Hey Sawyer...show me your muscles!

Big Day

Yesterday was a pretty big day for Marlee - first time on the bike, no training wheels!

As with any new rider, there were a few tears to go along with the excitement...but great times overall!

Christmas Time

Awesome time with family this Christmas. We bounced around from Houston to Liberty to Kingwood to Marshall, but managed to get quality time with some much-missed family. Things I learned this Christmas:
  • Regardless of how many times you tell her, Marlee will continually ask "Daddy, how much longer til we get there?"

  • I am the authority on all things "Kung Fu Panda". I have seen or heard the movie 87 times since Christmas, and am amazed at how Mace can watch the same movie over and over again. And again. And again. You get the idea...

  • Kids 4 and under, of which two of our three are, will never, never, ever sit through a Christmas eve service. Or have volume control. It's cute the first time when the youngest goes "yeaaaaaa!" at the top of his lungs after a song and the whole church laughs. Then it's just annoying.

  • Have plenty of Cheez-its for above mentioned scenarios. the best way to keep them quiet is to pump their mouths full of food.

  • Eating the gingerbread house for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is totally acceptable.

Here are a few pics of our rounds this Christmas:

My best bud at his school music program.
Playing 'chicken' with large pine trees isn't a good idea, I tell him...

With Grammy, their Great-Grandmother...
Hamming it up for the camera...

Allie and me racing down her parents driveway on the kids' scooters. I put her into the wall for the checkered flag...
My baby girl

Marlee contemplating the logistical impossibilities of Santa's Christmas Eve rounds...

Santa and his smokin' elf.

Imagine "extreme makeover home edition", only without the makeover part.
Happy New Year!

Family pics

Another year, another herculean effort of getting all the kids to look and smile at the same time...it's nice to know that out of 500 pictures taken, approximately six are workable and only need minor photoshopping.
Mace trying not to smile...
I almost got him here...

Got him. Love this picture...
I think I was doing a hula dance in my front yard to generate this reaction...
Allie stopped a couple of kids walking down the street to help us out here. I'm not kidding.

I included this picture because: a) it's funny, and b) it's exactly what we deal with when trying to take a group photo...

Marlee decided it would be funny if they all yelled instead of smiled. She was right.

Yes, I know the video is upside-down...

Ever get caught in a moment when you just have to have photo or video evidence of an event that just happened, but in your haste you don't take the time to make sure your cell-phone camera is turned the right way? Well...this was one of those moments...

New pics!

For fear of being 'de-grandsoned' by my grandparents, I figured it's high time I get some new pics up here...

Working the ol' John Deere is a bit difficult when you've got a crew on your lap and you're also trying to not spill your beverage...

Allie and the wild man...

Just after one of 47 rides on the four wheeler...

Me and the wild man...

The Baylor hat is Mace's, but it's the only one Sawyer will keep on his head...

At the woods near our house...

Ok, so we don't have any 'mature' trees in our neighborhood, let alone ones that drop leaves in the fall...this little pile was all Marlee could scrape up for her leaf-pile diving escapade.

My best bud...

Halloween night - I manned the front porch while Allie took the kids up around the neighborhood.

Efforting...we're not there yet...but we're not that far away!
